Arielle Steele emerging filmmaker & cultural creator

Hello & Welcome

My name is Arielle Steele and I’m a writer, filmmaker, and financial analyst located in Albany, NY. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at Williams College in 2016, I returned to the Capital Region to work with the City School District of Albany. During my tenure there I rediscovered my love of film and volunteered with YouthFX, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the filmmaking education of youth aged 13-24.

I have now produced 2 independent short films and a music video for an emerging artist in Brooklyn, NY. In 2023, I worked with Executive Director of the Palace Theater, Kevin Johnson and Patrick Harris of Collective Effort as Festival Coordinator of the inaugural Renaissance Black Film Festival, which screened 20 local and international short and feature length narrative films and documentaries.

In the fall of 2023, I gained my certification in non-profit organizational leadership with the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region’s Catalyst for Change Leadership program. The Catalyst for Change program is designed to develop professionals of color within the nonprofit organizational sector. With my employment history and the Catalyst for Change Cohort, I have been able to marry my passion for film with my skills in project management, education, event planning and DEI.

I have been recognized for my contributions in the community by the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region. I was awarded as an Emerging Professional in the YWCA’s 23rd Annual Resourceful Women’s Awards.

In addition to my work in film and professional development, I have written for millennial Capital Region based blog, CapNY. My writings focused on millennials of color in the Cap Region, and arts and culture.

Currently I am a member and Board Vice President of non-profit organization, 518 Film Network, an organization dedicated to building community and opportunities for growth for filmmakers in the Capital District. When I am not working on a film set or in an office, or writing articles for local outlets, you can find me in a West African dance class or a Beyoncé concert.
